Teeth whitening

If you are unhappy with the color of your teeth, let us know. With a simple teeth whitening treatment we can give your teeth and your smile a whole new dimension!

We perform whitening using the at-home method. First we take impressions of your teeth and have our dental technician create a set of whitening trays. These are transparent trays custom-made for your teeth. Using these trays you can whiten your teeth at home over the course of a few evenings.

Is whitening harmful to your teeth?

Teeth whitening is safe for your teeth when done correctly. We give you detailed instructions on how to whiten your teeth. During check-ups, you can share your experiences with us and ask any questions you may have.

Will your teeth become sensitive from whitening?

Your teeth may become slightly sensitive from whitening; teeth and molars consist of different layers and structures;

  • The outer layer is the enamel, which is a protective layer that lets light through and is naturally almost colorless.
  • The inner layer is called dentin, which gives the tooth its color
  • At the core is a nerve, which provides sensation to the tooth

Impurities can accumulate in the dentin layer, causing your teeth to appear slightly darker. During whitening, the bleaching gel cleans this dentin layer. The nerve at the core may become somewhat sensitive, but this sensitivity disappears after a few days.

Will your teeth stay white forever after whitening?

Over time, your teeth often become slightly darker again. This happens because the inner layer of the tooth, the dentin, can accumulate stains from the food and drinks you consume. A major advantage of the at-home whitening method is that you can easily perform another whitening session at home, usually after about a year.
